About Normalyze

We help enterprises secure the data they care about … wherever it is.

As enterprises race to leverage AI and ML technologies, build SaaS applications, and distribute workloads across multi-cloud environments, data has become more dynamic and dispersed.

These advances are enabling organizations to get more value out of
their data, but they are also increasing the size and complexity of the enterprise attack surface. Simultaneously, new regulatory requirements are raising the bar for data compliance and increasing pressure on data and security teams.

This evolving landscape has made it challenging to discover, classify,
and secure data and has resulted in a loss of visibility and control for enterprises and greater risk of data breach.

Why Normalyze, and why now?

As the founder of Netskope, Ravi Ithal had many conversations with CISOs about their most pressing challenges and what concerns kept them up at night. Three themes continually arose: data governance, data access and authorization and cloud data security. It became clear to him that data was becoming more challenging to secure – and data security products on the market were not solving those challenges.

Ravi formed ideas around how to address the market need and started meeting with more CISOs and potential investors. He wanted to develop a data security platform that would connect to enterprise cloud accounts and provide a comprehensive view of all an organization’s data stores, and then prioritize the value of that data, detail who has access to that data, the associated system vulnerabilities surrounding that data, and more. That concept resonated well with both investors and CISOs.

The Normalyze Team

It was during this time that Ravi was introduced to Amer Deeba. Like Ravi, Amer has decades of experience in enterprise information security, most notably 17 years as chief marketing officer, VP of corporate development and strategic alliances, and chief commercial officer at Qualys, one of the first security companies to deliver its software as a service. The duo had equal but different strengths: Amer is an expert in enterprise security products and go-to-market strategy, and Ravi’s focus is product development and internal growth and communication. Their partnership and friendship grew over time and across multiple meetings.

As they continued to meet with customers and refine how to solve the data security challenge, it was clear they needed to join forces to address this data security challenge and solve it at scale.

Placing data at the center of information security

Out of that beginning, Normalyze adopted a data-first approach to security. Normalyze is the pioneer of Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), helping enterprises secure their data across SaaS, PaaS, public or multi-cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments. With Normalyze, security and data teams can improve their overall security and compliance efforts while empowering the business to leverage their most precious asset: data.

The Normalyze DSPM platform helps to discover and classify data stores, prioritizes what’s important, identifies risky and excessive access, detects and remediates exposure risks, and improves compliance and auditing processes. Normalyze secures even the most complex data landscapes by combining insights into data, access, and risk. It simplifies collaboration between data and security teams, enabling them to create effective security and governance plans tailored to the business’s needs.

Backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Battery Ventures, Normalyze holds 11 patents in data security and is used by global organizations including Albertsons, Snowflake, Informatica and many others.
